The last 20 years of wifi are truly a reminder of how relative our sense of speed can be. Back in 2005, 802.11g's max of 54 Mbps was blazing fast compared to the 11 Mbps of 802.11b. Today we’re talking about Wi-Fi 7 and theoretical speeds over 40 Gbps! Of course, most homes still rely on Wi-Fi 6 or even 5, and actual performance depends on a lot more than the standard or what a single speed test can tell you. That’s why we launched Wifi Central in 2016—an open resource full of practical tips for getting the best possible home wifi without obsessing over speed tests. Link’s in the comments! At 20 years as a company, we’re reflecting on how times have changed, and which challenges continue to keep us on our toes as an industry, in a series of posts here on LinkedIn. Here’s to the next 20 years of connectivity! #WirelessWednesday #wifi #EyeNetworks20 #ServiceProviders

It's time for an annual reminder–when temperatures go up, coverage goes down as most of us spend more time in gardens, on terraces, in the outer bounds of wifi coverage–and take our clients with us. Help your customers make sure they have all the wifi they need to keep the good vibes going all through summer! #WirelessWednesday #wifi #ServiceProviders

Picture it: Early 2005. There are 3 private broadband subscriptions per 10 Norwegian households. "Broadband" is anything above 128 kbps, but numbers will be rising quickly in the years to follow. Most Norwegians have wifi at home. Well, parts of the home, anyway. Horrible extenders are already a thing, mesh wifi is certainly not. We listen to downloads of Destiny's Child and Eric Prydz on our mp3 players. None of the major streaming services have launched yet, YouTube will be coming later that year. Some mobile phones and PDAs (remember those?) are on the internet, but smartphones have yet to make an impact. And in Oslo, Norway, a little company called DSLPartner is founded, vowing to serve ISPs of all sizes with the best solutions the market has to offer. 20 years later, more than 95% of Norwegian households have access to 1 Gbps broadband, and more than 97% have access to the 100 Mbps or more that the government has set as the national target. The internet service landscape has changed, and a lot with it -- including our company name -– but our dedication to serving the service providers remains the same. We are also delighted to say that some of our customers have been with us from the very beginning! To mark our anniversary, we will be taking a lighthearted look at how times have changed, and which challenges continue to keep us on our toes as an industry. We are doing this over a series of posts here on LinkedIn, and we hope you will enjoy our trip down memory lane and muse with us about what lies ahead in the next 20 years of connectivity, #EyeNetworks20 #ServiceProviders #WirelessWednesday

This March 8 it's been 50 years since the United Nations first commemorated International Women’s Day. The global fight for gender equality has seen both significant progress and persistent challenges. Achieving full rights and opportunities for girls and women remains an urgent, ongoing mission. For a look at how the global situation for women has changed during those 50 years, we recommend the UN article linked in the comments. Women's health is a topic that has long received little attention both in Norway and internationally. Research on women's health has been underrepresented, which has led to a lack of knowledge about typical women's diseases. Women's pain is also often trivialized. Even in Norway's well-developed health care system, women's health is subject to systemic bias. Internationally, the situation is very serious. In many countries, women lack basic health services, especially in reproductive health. Lack of self-determination over their own bodies can have serious consequences, both in terms of health and social. Women's health is a human rights issue! This March 8, we at Eye Networks have chosen to support The Norwegian Women's Public Health Association, Norway's largest women's association, in their work for equal health services and against violence towards women, and encourage others to do the same – find their link in the comments as well! #sanitetskvinnene #kvinnehelse #kvinnedagen Norske Kvinners Sanitetsforening
